Our client, BDO have now relocated onto the 12th floor of Thames Tower. Having spent 17 years at their previous home on Kings Road, they partnered with Office Principles to create a brand new office at this prestigious new building in the heart of Reading.
Office Principles designed a workplace that reflects the firms’ commitment to flexibility, collaboration and agile working, driven by the changing needs of BDO’s clients and its 220 strong team. Office Principles were hired as workplace consultants to investigate and create a new agile way of working. BDO were looking for several benefits including improved space utilisation, and the opportunity to engage with great talent. The outcome of the workplace consultancy process enabled BDO to reduce their square footage by 2,824 square foot, and has meant that BDO can fit onto a single floor plate. As well as saving on property costs, this has greatly enhance collaboration and productivity amongst staff. The new office incorporates a non-allocated desking strategy using a new digital desk utilisation system, open-space communal areas, collaborative working zones, quiet spaces and wireless connectivity throughout. Other key workspaces include a silent library for quiet work, acoustic hot pods for quick individual phone calls, a premium client meeting suite with a generous café and work zones with a philosophy of everyone owns everywhere.
Commenting on the move, partner and head of BDO in the Thames Valley, Simon Brooker said: “The firm has spent much time identifying what the BDO office of the future might look like and what our needs for office space will be, so when we took the decision to move to a brand new state-of-the-art building we decided to fully embrace the firm’s vision of the future. This move marks the start of a new chapter for BDO in the Thames Valley and demonstrates the strength of our commitment to the region and the success of its businesses.
