Background

Office Principles has worked with Insight Direct for over ten years, completing design and build turnkey projects for the computer hardware, software and tech solutions company at various UK and European locations.

Insight had a design company and independent project manager on board for this particular project but was keen to bring in a partner that was experienced at detail and build; proficient at handling technical costs and design co-ordination.

Having successfully gone through a rigorous procurement and tender stage, we were keen to begin the collaboration process. Our intention was to work closely with the design company, the project management consultant, the mechanical and electrical expert and furniture specialists to ensure that Insight’s vision was met and to secure a timely delivery.

Overview

Office Principles provided a full Cat B fit out including mechanical modifications and relocations of existing systems, full underfloor electrical installation, with enhanced lighting, soft furnishings and carpeting.

The space includes a sun terrace overlooking Uxbridge with a secret folding wall that can be used for training and town hall events. There are two raised stage areas for collaborative working, creating height across the design. A large open plan area sits alongside a games area and there is parameter glazing providing panoramic views throughout.

Two sections of the space, which sits on the fourth floor, overlook the timber clad central atrium so finishes and design were neutral and natural to provide harmony and to complement those other finishes.  The project involved the fit out of a worship room, kitchen and breakout area, a series of senior meeting rooms and one to one, individual booths.

Project completion

Embracing our role as design guardian, we worked closely with the project designer, contributing to decisions involving the selection of finishes, joinery and senses checking.

Our key role in the process was to guide the design through to final presentation and to track the overall briefing requirements.

“We have a good track record for detail and build, priding ourselves on seamless transitions, cost certainty and overall solid project delivery. All of the professionals we worked with on this project were good collaborators and communicators and there was a real sense of team work across the project to deliver a workplace its occupants could be proud of.”

Tom Parsons, project director, Office Principles

“Despite the challenges of lockdown forcing a temporary shutdown on works, and as the lease expiry date on our old space closed in, Office Principles managed to deliver the fit out with time to spare. We now have a next generation workplace, which is one of the best projects I’ve been involved in.”
