Office Principles has completed work on industry-leading provider for cloud-enabled security solutions, Barracuda Networks, new office at The White Building in Reading.
The interior design and office fit out project has enabled Barracuda to move from its previous offices, split over two floors in Basingstoke, to a more stimulating, single space, uniting the team and allowing all employees to work together in an open, shared environment.
Work on the 13,000 sq ft project comprised of a complete CAT B fit out. The overall project included the remodelling and installation of M&E services, the creation of a selection of large and small meeting rooms, a kitchen area, break out areas and a townhall presentation space with tiered seating.
The office interior design, fit out and workplace consultancy provided Barracuda with a series of potential designs and test fits. Solution-based design features were incorporated throughout the centralised area complementing the architecture of the building and the spirit of the White Building, with its contemporary and informal appeal. Clever space planning enabled a visual connection to be maintained throughout the open plan.
One of the key aims of the project was to maximise the unusual T shape space, without wasting any of the stand out architectural features. A consultative approach was taken to ensure that the initial brief was met, while delivering the best design.
The recessed ceiling, with its concrete downstands, presented a particular challenge as it inhibited the placing of partitioning, calling on the team's skills and experience to make it work without compromising space. The endgame was to avoid a standard call centre look and reflect the White Building's overall modern and vibrant draw.
Office Principles collaborated with us to create a great layout and use of space, demonstrating a real understanding of our needs and translating this into the brief. The build team helped through any issues as they surfaced and completed with minimal interruption, despite the challenges presented by lockdown and the Covid situation.
