Office Principles North has completed the transformation of The Curtis, a striking 1930s former lightbulb factory near Ravenscourt Park in West London, on behalf of Aver Property.
The 12,000 sq ft heritage building has been refurbished and reconfigured to upgrade amenities, maximise space, and deliver an exceptional arrival experience for tenants.
The project focused on remodelling the previously under-utilised ground floor reception area in a way that highlights the building's original industrial features. It was delivered in just 14 weeks, while keeping the building operational for existing office tenants and residential occupants.
The dated reception has made way for a bright, modern welcome space with ample room for informal meetings, a tea point, and reception desk. DDA compliant facilities have also been added. Exposed brickwork and original Crittal windows have been retained to celebrate the building's rich history.
Sustainable upgrades like LED lighting and low-flush toilets complement the industrial aesthetic. The second and third floors have been refitted to a high Category A standard.
We’re pleased to have worked in collaboration with Ergo Real Estate to rejuvenate another unique building. The Curtis is a beautiful, self-contained office building that benefits from excellent natural light to all floors, and stunning views across Ravenscourt Park. Our design has succeeded in enhancing much of the building’s amazing original features, while delivering new amenities and a stunning arrival experience.
Aver Property, a partnership between Ergo Real Estate and NFU Mutual, acquired Curtis Building in late 2021. The c.17,000 sq ft self-contained warehouse office was originally a lightbulb factory before its conversion in the 1970s.
We are passionate about team, culture and performance and we strongly believe one of the keys to success is creating a ‘WOW’ environment – one that is both inspirational and conducive to the team’s success. The Curtis has provided the perfect canvas for us to achieve this, and the proof is in the pudding – having been named No.1 Best Workplace in the UK by Great Place to Work™, our office is now continually used to showcase our EPIC environment and how it engages people in culture!
