Leading office refurbishment specialist, OP, has completed the transformation of a 5,500 sq ft workspace for an access solutions company in Reading.

The project began with strategic real estate analysis and negotiation support - extending far beyond traditional office interior design and fit out services to help the client secure the ideal building in the Imperium Building, Reading. This approach reflects OP's methodology of working alongside clients from day one to support informed decision-making about their real estate.

The result is a bright, contemporary office environment that prioritises natural light, team connection and employee wellbeing for a growing workforce of 40-50 staff.

The new workspace addresses the challenges of the client's previous premises, which lacked natural light and discouraged team interaction through its high-density, cellular layout.

Natural light now floods through windows throughout the space, forming the foundation of the design approach. A variety of collaboration spaces give employees genuine choice in how and where they work, from library-style collaboration desks to private meeting pods and a prominent breakout area with fitted kitchen.

Warm finishes including wood panelling add texture throughout, while biophilic elements bring natural touches into the working environment. The layout successfully balances openness and connection with privacy for focused work, while sustainability was supported through furniture reuse from the client's existing premises.

This is the second project OP has delivered in the Imperium Building in Reading, demonstrating ongoing partnership and impact in transforming workplaces in this location.

This project exemplifies the value of early involvement and strategic thinking. By supporting the client through the entire journey - from real estate analysis and building selection through to final fit out - we were able to deliver a workplace that truly addresses their priorities.

Max Parsons, Project Director

OP came highly recommended — and it’s clear why. From day one, they’ve been an invaluable partner, guiding us through contract negotiations and creating a workspace that prioritises wellbeing. This move to a bright, naturally lit office is a major investment in our people and a chance to rethink how we work together. It’s more than a new location — it’s about fostering collaboration, boosting morale, and building an environment where everyone thrives. Thoughtful design, natural light, and collaborative spaces make this a place our team truly wants to be. We’re excited about the positive impact this transformation is already having on our daily work lives.
