Annual charity event, 19 Not Out, has marked its fourth year by smashing the £100,000 milestone in support of the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

19 Not Out, jointly hosted by the Birmingham office of OP and Bespoke Office Space Solutions (BOSS), brought together more than 170 guests, many from the region’s commercial property sector.

Held at Birmingham’s celebrity restaurant, Asha’s, the event was headlined by Sir Andrew Strauss, former England cricket captain and founder of the Ruth Strauss Foundation. He was joined by singer-songwriter Edwina Hayes and Geoff Miller OBE, former England Test player and the ECB’s first national selector.

The Ruth Strauss Foundation was established by Sir Andrew in memory of his wife, Ruth, who died from a rare form of lung cancer in 2018. The charity supports families facing the death of a parent with professional bereavement services, while also raising awareness and funding research into non-smoking lung cancers.

Now in its fourth year, 19 Not Out has become a much-anticipated fixture on the Midlands property calendar. What began in 2022 as 13 Not Out, has evolved into a successful fundraising initiative thanks in large part to the passion and commitment of Marcus Hayes, Director of BOSS.

Funds on the day were raised through ticket sales, individual donations, a raffle, and a live auction, all helping push the total combined four-year fundraising effort past the six-figure mark.

Donations can still be made via the 19 Not Out Just Giving page:

We’re incredibly proud to have helped 19 Not Out reach this milestone. It’s a brilliant way to bring the industry together for a cause that truly matters, and we’re delighted to play our part alongside Marcus and the BOSS team.

Gary Tailby, Managing Director

This cause is deeply personal to me. Having lost both of my parents at a young age, I know how crucial emotional support is during such a difficult time. Each year, the generosity of our guests grows and so does the impact we can have through the Ruth Strauss Foundation. I’m incredibly grateful to Gary Tailby and the OP team for continuing to support this event and help make it the success it is.
