Leading office fit out specialist, OP, has completed the refurbishment of Deriv's London office, transforming a blank canvas into a welcoming, colourful workplace designed for innovation and collaboration through strategic use of colour psychology.

Deriv is a global online trading platform serving over 3 million clients worldwide, with operations spanning multiple geographies and a 26-year track record of innovation in financial technology.

The six-week project reimagined the entire floor plate, creating a vibrant workspace where colour plays a central role in enhancing mood, productivity and the overall employee experience.

Deriv’s brief was a creative workspace designed for innovation and collaboration both within the London team and with colleagues in other UK and global locations as it scales operations and advances its AI-first technology strategy.

Moving into a new space presented an opportunity to design an environment that would provide the warmth, variety and diverse working styles needed in a modern workplace. The space needed to capture the dynamic, welcoming atmosphere that Deriv had successfully cultivated in other global locations.

OP's solution completely reconfigured the floor plate, introducing four individual offices for focused work and confidential conversations, a strategically positioned meeting room, and a welcoming breakout area with collaborative tables and chairs, an enhanced tea point, and homely touches. The flooring scheme features varied carpet and vinyl walkways, defining distinct zones throughout the workplace.

Strategic use of colour psychology

Working with Deriv's openness to creative solutions, OP introduced a carefully considered vibrant palette that leverages colour psychology to create an engaging work environment.

The design features pastel multi-coloured chairs, multi-coloured lighting, banquette seating, and four dedicated phone booths.

A carefully selected rug enhances the homely feel, while the abundant natural light from generous windows ensures the space feels bright and welcoming throughout the day.

Navigating operational challenges

The project presented unique operational challenges, delivered within a mixed-use building housing residential flats above and a restaurant below.

The team worked within the building's main staircase – the primary access route for residents – requiring meticulous attention to cleanliness and minimal disruption throughout the programme.

The completed space demonstrates how thoughtful use of colour psychology and functional design can create a workplace that inspires creativity and supports dynamic collaboration.

The close collaboration with Deriv throughout the design process resulted in a fantastic outcome. Deriv's enthusiasm for bold, colourful design allowed us to create a workspace that delivers the creative energy and collaboration essential for innovative companies.

Warwick Batts, Client Services Manager

With Deriv scaling rapidly—serving 3 million traders globally and expanding our team—we needed a London workspace that matched the energy and innovation of our other hubs. We wanted a creative space where collaboration happens naturally and ideas flow. As we execute our growth strategy and AI-first transformation, this office supports the kind of dynamic, innovative work culture that defines Deriv. The result has real personality and reflects who we are as a company.
