Creating a central London hub for a rapidly expanding accountancy firm is about more than desks. It's about inspiring people, building connections, and celebrating the unique personality of a brand that proudly calls themselves "rebels of accountancy."

We've worked with Cooper Parry to transform their 18,000 sq ft London headquarters at Broadwalk House, Broadgate into a hospitality-led workspace, creating a dynamic environment that supports diverse work styles while maintaining their distinctive brand identity.

Building a hub for the rebels of accountancy

Cooper Parry is a rapidly growing accountancy firm acquiring multiple businesses and creating regional hubs across the UK. Their London hub brings together teams from their previous Holborn office and other locations into one central workspace designed to support continued growth and client relationships.

As rebels of accountancy, their workspace needed to move beyond traditional accountancy office aesthetics, creating an environment that supports everything from focused desk work to large-scale events, while providing a welcoming experience for the constant flow of visitors requiring flexible work settings.

Designing for diversity and growth

As a flexible, modern accountancy firm, Cooper Parry needed an inspiring workplace that supports their team alongside the substantial number of people visiting for meetings who need flexible work settings throughout the day.

The challenge lay in the details. The space needed to provide desk space for their team while creating diverse work settings throughout. The design had to reflect Cooper Parry's unique personality and avoid traditional office aesthetics despite high-density requirements. Additionally, the workspace needed to support both day-to-day operations and large gatherings with appropriate technology, while welcoming clients and supporting the internal culture and collaboration that defines their maverick approach to accountancy.

We identified an opportunity to transform the space from a traditional office layout into a dynamic, multi-faceted environment inspired by nature and hospitality principles, with botanical-themed naming conventions woven throughout the design narrative.

Our approach centred on creating distinct zones that serve multiple purposes, ensuring every square foot works harder to support the diverse ways people need to use the space throughout the day and week.

A workspace that grows and breathes

We've successfully delivered a comprehensive transformation that balances high-density requirements with unique, aesthetically pleasing spaces that feel nothing like a traditional accountancy office.

The journey begins in the Bloom Lounge, Cooper Parry's business lounge and reception area that creates an immediate impression for clients and visitors. Designed as an inviting arrival zone, this space offers a long communal table and attractive, flexible work settings for drop-in workers.  Adjacent to this, the Bloom Room serves dual purposes: a library-inspired space with generous banquette seating at the back, and a training room when required. Curtains can be drawn to create a more intimate, cosy atmosphere for focused work or learning.

The heart of the transformation is The Greenhouse, our central social space that serves as a multifunctional hub. This is where design meets functionality in the most dynamic way - serving as an alternative work setting, social space complete with pool table, darts board, and ping pong tables, food preparation and break area, and event space for town halls with appropriate technology for large gatherings.

The Greenhouse features impressive design elements, anchored by a substantial joinery feature at the rear, incorporating open shelving and curved booth seating. Large benches accommodate lunch, collaborative work, and double up for events and gatherings. A bespoke joinery tea point provides kitchen facilities on one side and tea point on the other, complete with an Altrock island centrepiece. Throughout the space, carefully selected artwork adds personality, while huge sofas create beautiful lounge settings. Suspended acoustic flaps - ‘fins’ on the ceiling maintain comfort without compromising the industrial aesthetic of the exposed ceilings.

Working within tight spatial constraints while maintaining Cooper Parry's unique personality required us to think creatively about every design element. The challenge was balancing high-density desk requirements with creating spaces that feel inspiring and differentiated. Being able to deliver an environment that supports such diverse work styles while avoiding any call centre aesthetic is exactly the kind of problem-solving we excel at.

Emily Cowgill, Designer

Our open plan areas provide desk zones with high-density seating, but we've carefully designed the layout and incorporated creative design elements to ensure the space maintains visual interest. Curtains can be drawn to separate these areas from the corridor, creating a more private, focused environment when needed.

The Meeting Village provides a dedicated client suite area with multiple meeting rooms featuring themed botanical names. We've enhanced the existing architecture with carefully selected wallpaper and carpet that complement the overall design narrative while creating distinct spaces for different purposes.

Creative touches are layered throughout the space include playful joinery with peach and red striped fabrics, and unique personality elements that make this Cooper Parry location feel distinctively different from their other hubs while maintaining brand consistency. The exposed ceilings throughout create an industrial aesthetic that adds character and visual interest to the space.

Sustainability through strategic reuse

A key feature of this transformation is our commitment to minimising waste and carbon footprint through strategic reuse. We've retained 80% of the existing architecture including meeting rooms, reused all existing desks and task chairs.

This approach prioritised reuse and retention over complete renovation, delivering a transformed workspace while minimising disruption, waste, and environmental impact.

We needed to create a London hub that brought together multiple offices while supporting our continued growth. OP delivered exactly what we required and more. The transformation has given us a workspace that reflects our personality as 'rebels of accountancy' while providing the flexibility we need for our CPers and constant flow of visitors. The social spaces has become the heart of our operation - it's where our culture comes to life. We're absolutely over the moon with the results.
