An eclectic, hospitality-inspired Thames Valley hub that brings Cooper Parry's distinctive culture to life through creative workplace design.

We've transformed an existing office space into a rich, texture-filled Thames Valley hub for Cooper Parry, creating a welcoming environment that reflects the firm's innovative approach to workplace culture.

Our design reimagines 12,000 sq ft of space to deliver a variety of dynamic settings that support hybrid working while embodying the distinctive Cooper Parry brand identity. The project showcases how creative reuse of existing elements can deliver both sustainability benefits and significant advantages.

Cooper Parry's vision for their Thames Valley hub represented an exciting challenge: create a space with a distinctive aesthetic while maximising the reuse of existing office furniture and fittings.

The project was part of Cooper Parry's broader strategy to consolidate multiple regional offices into strategic hubs. This Reading location would bring together teams from several Thames Valley locations, creating a central destination that truly reflects the Cooper Parry way of working.

Our brief was to transform the space into something that felt more like a comfortable private members' club than a traditional office - creating an environment where people could work flexibly and collaboratively. This meant carefully balancing the desire for an upscale, eclectic vibe with practical considerations around sustainability goals.

The existing fit out provided good bones to work with, but needed thoughtful adaptation to create the right mix of settings and atmosphere for Cooper Parry's culture. Our challenge was to seamlessly integrate existing elements with new feature pieces to achieve the desired aesthetic and functionality.

This project showcases how creative thinking and careful curation can transform an existing space into something truly special. By thoughtfully combining new and existing elements, we've delivered a workspace that feels both sophisticated and welcoming - exactly the kind of environment Cooper Parry wanted to create for their Thames Valley hub.

Gary Tailby, Managing Director

The transformed space delivers exactly the kind of warm, welcoming environment Cooper Parry envisioned - one that encourages movement, supports various working styles, and creates a distinctive experience from the moment you enter.

Rather than a traditional reception desk, visitors are greeted by an inviting round table that sets the tone for the more residential, hospitality-inspired feel throughout. The design creates a variety of settings that support everything from focused work to collaborative sessions and casual meetings.

We've crafted comfortable lounge areas with carefully selected furniture that combines existing pieces with new elements to achieve the desired coworking space environment aesthetic. Open plan areas are designed to accommodate impromptu team calls and informal collaboration, with appropriate office acoustic considerations to maintain a productive environment.

Sustainability was a key focus, with the extensive reuse of existing furniture being a central part of the story. This approach not only supported environmental goals but also made smart financial sense. Where new elements were needed, we selected materials thoughtfully - including loose lay vinyl flooring that will minimise future dilapidation costs.

The project benefited from excellent collaboration with the building management team, who provided valuable support with access and logistics. This partnership approach extended to helping optimise other building areas, including assistance with the reception area setup.

The vision for this space was to move away from traditional office aesthetics and create something that felt more like a private members' club. By carefully balancing existing and new elements, we've created an environment that's both sophisticated and practical, with different settings that support various ways of working while maintaining that distinctive Cooper Parry personality.

Local identity plays an important role in the design, with meeting room names drawing inspiration from Reading's history and culture. This connection to place will be further enhanced by the planned installation of a life-sized gold lion, creating a striking focal point that adds to the space's distinctive character.

The straightforward construction phase was expertly managed by our project team, who maintained strong relationships with all stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery. The result is a workspace that perfectly balances style and practicality, creating an environment that supports Cooper Parry's collaborative culture and future growth.

Our new Thames Valley hub perfectly captures the Cooper Parry culture and spirit. The team at OP has created a space that doesn't just look fantastic, it works brilliantly for our people and our visitors. The variety of working environments and the overall atmosphere make this a place where our teams genuinely want to be, which is exactly what we were looking for.
