We have completed an exquisitely refurbished headquarters for the worlds largest cookware manufacturer, Groupe SEB.
Situated on a single floorplate, the 14,000 sq ft office space in Ditton Parks Botanica building, Berkshire has been expertly kitted out with modern facilities and specifically crafted to maximise the flood of natural light. Idiosyncratic in its triangular-shaped format, the first floor workspace boasts a vivacious interior designed to magnify the ease of collaborative working.
Founded in 1857, the French consortium Groupe SEB began as a tinware workshop in Selongey, France. Now present in nearly 150 countries, the organisation provides customers with a multitudinous variety of professional and domestic appliances and kitchenware. Working with over 30 brands, Groupe SEB is perpetually looking for ways to develop and simplify its products for consumers. Our aim with this project was to fabricate an area which accommodated the company’s 60 employees in an optimistic, mind-friendly layout. Characterised by biophilia and perimeter glazing and offering superb views across the surrounding parklands, this is a collective space we consciously designed to amplify employee wellbeing. Our main challenges were in delivering the project within a tight, 13-week construction period in the backdrop of material shortages and the coronavirus pandemic. Once outdated, soft divides of modular furniture now segment Groupe SEB’s embellished workplace, which is characterised by its neighbourhood-style layout. Coated in a natural palette, the place announces itself through sporadic bursts of colour, seen particularly in the statement red finishes. Internal crittall glass partitions bring a tide of light into the triangular workspace, highlighting the natural, soft timbers, funky scribble wall and uplifting quotes adorning the walls. Providing functional meeting and demonstration areas, the office is complete with four bespoke kitchen areas alongside a social hub which hosts open plan tea point elevations and a central area for the optimal work-social balance. Moreover, we have also installed brand new, in-house media capability and a flexible presentation zone which can be reconfigured for events and training. It’s a space that puts people at its heart, with biophilia strategically placed throughout the workspace to enhance employee wellbeing. Finished in just over three months, this dynamic workspace will be a scintillating, comfortable upgrade for Groupe SEB’s UK team.

Were thrilled to have worked with Groupe SEB to deliver this inspiring new workspace. Our relationship goes back more than two years, during which we supported the company in relocating from its previous location in Windsor, to more suitable accommodation on one floor, that is conducive to close team working. The design was informed by a series of engagement sessions that enabled us to gain a greater understanding of individual departmental requirements. It has helped us to create an entirely new space within stunning landscaped surroundings. It not only enhances communication and collaboration but delivers a warm, community-feel that people will enjoy being a part of.
